Scream Queens: Why You Beta Watch Out For This Show

With the creators of Glee and American Horror Story teaming up with Queen Bee Emma Roberts, original scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis, pop star Ariana Grande, Glee diva Lea MicheleNick effin' Jonas, and a lot more stars, this new horror-comedy series is bound to be TV's next biggest hit (or flop).

Read on to learn more about the story of Scream Queens, to know the rest of it's killer cast and to find out if Taylor Swift is really gonna be a part of it.

Okay, so what's this show gonna be all about?
Wallace University is rocked by a string of murders. Kappa House, the most sought-after sorority for pledges, is ruled with an iron fist (in a pink glove) by its Queen B*tch, Chanel Oberlin (Emma Roberts). But when anti-Kappa Dean Cathy Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis) decrees that sorority pledging must be open to all students, and not just the school's silver-spooned elite, all hell is about to break loose, as a devil-clad killer begins wreaking havoc, claiming one victim, one episode at a time. Part black comedy, part slasher flick, Scream Queens is a modern take on the classic whodunit, in which every character has a motive for murder... Or could easily be the next blood-soaked casualty. Written by Fox.

The upcoming series is described as a horror anthology crossed with a comedy based in a school. With all that being said, I'm unsure whether it'd be best described as a Mean Girls meets Friday the 13th (as lead actress Emma Roberts said), a Glee meets American Horror Story (given that Scream Queens is from the creators of the two said shows), or a little bit of both.

How is this not just another American Horror Story: Coven?
"It's similar to American Horror Story in that it's anthological but different in that at the end of the first season there will only be four characters out of 25 left. And those four in season two will go on to a new horror genre — like a sorority is a horror genre to me, it's a place where there were horror movies in the '80s like Sorority Row — and they will go on. That's the format of the show. It's sort of like a twist on American Horror Story: every season is a new season, a new setting, a new establishment — the difference being you will know some of the characters who will live," said creator Ryan Murphy in an interview with THR. Only four characters will survive? With the star-studded cast, looks like it's bad news for some of our favorites.

Who's in this "to-die-for" cast again?

Emma Roberts (Aquamarine, Nancy Drew, Wild Child, The Art of Getting By, We're The Millers, American Horror Story: Coven), Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween, True Lies, Prom Night,Terror Train, Freaky Friday), Lea Michele (Glee, New Year's Eve), Abigail Breslin (Signs, Little Miss Sunshine, My Sister's Keeper, Zombieland, The Call, Ender's Game), Nasim Pedrad (Saturday Night Live), Oliver Hudson (Going Greek, Rules of Engagement, Nashville), Skyler Samuels (Wizards of Waverly Place, The Stepfather, Furry Vengeance, The Nine Lives of Chloe King, American Horror Story: Freakshow, The Duff), Keke Palmer (Akeelah and the Bee, Madea's Family Reunion, Joyful Noise, Jump In!, Rags, True Jackson VP), Billie Lourd (Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens), Diego Boneta (Mean Girls 2, Rock of Ages), Glen Powell (The Dark Knight Rises, The Expendables 3), Lucien Laviscount (Waterloo Road), Niecy Nash (Clean House, Reno 911!, The Soul Man, Selma), Nick Jonas (Camp Rock, JONAS/Jonas L.A., Careful What You Wish For, Kingdom), Ariana Grande (Victorious, Sam & Cat), and Charisma Carpenter (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Charmed, Veronica Mars, The Expendables).
Wow, hmm, I wonder how much the acting fees cost in total.

Doesn't anyone turn Ryan Murphy down?
It does look like Murphy has the ability to cast anyone and everyone he wants. But he revealed  that one of the only people who turned him down was his favorite singer, Taylor Swift.

“I love Taylor Swift. I go after Taylor Swift for everything that I do. I have great affection for her,” Murphy told Hollywood Life exclusively at a screening for Scream Queens in LA. “And she’s always been so nice about giving me stuff. And I think she’s great. I would love to work with her. I actually called her people about her for this, but she had already booked a tour, and I said, just do one episode, but she couldn’t even do that. But some day, because I’m a big fan.” Sorry Swifties, maybe next time.

Scream Queens is set to premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. for its two-hour premier before moving to its regular slot the following week at 9 p.m. IDK about you but I think everyone's dying to get in KKT this fall. Literally.

  1. I like the fact that no matter how the actors are that of a 'star', we do know that they have massive chances of being killed by the end. Staying tuned to this TV series.
